Garden of D’Lights

On January 9, 2022 I went to visit friends in Walnut Creek California. We went to the Ruth Bancroft Garden where they had an evening light show.

The cactus, Agaves, and succulents are striking enough during the day but at night it is like being in another world.

The garden was planted in the 60’s and 70’s but Ruth Bancroft continued working on it until she was in her 90’s. She died in 2017 when she was 109. She and her husband owned a walnut orchard of many acres and she saved 3.5 acres for her home and cactus garden and the rest was sold to developers who built much of Walnut Creek.

The paths were lined with multicolored lights so you could see where to go.

The beauty of the plants are highlighted by the many colors of the lights.

Here are some videos that show the fantastic effects of the changing colored lights.
