Redwood Treewalk

I had no idea that Redwood trees would grow so well in New Zealand. These were planted in 1901 and the tallest here in NZ is 246′. In comparison, the tallest California Redwood is 376′ but it probably is over 2000 years old. The NZ trees get more even moisture throughout the year and great volcanic soil.

The Forest that we walked through this evening was lit up with lights and the pathways were suspended 20′-40′ in the air off of the Redwood trunks.

There are a total of 23 bridges with a total length of about 1/3 mile.

The tallest bridge has lights like a suspension bridge.

Tomorrow – Traveling to New Plymouth to see Lava Sculpture Garden and Te Kainga Marire Garden
