Lonnie and Karen built a new house in S. Auburn and wanted a front garden with drought tolerant plants and no lawn.

Here are views of the front of the house before the landscaping was installed:

The weeds were sprayed and then, a week later, all the flat areas were rototilled to loosen up the compacted soil:

Existing rocks were moved around and 35 yds. of soil was hauled in and spread:

The neighbor across the street gave Lonnie and Karen 2 Bottlebrushes that were in large pots. We planted them on the slope in front of the wall:

Plants were delivered to the site and I laid them out according to my plant list for each area:

Large plants are planted first then the 1 gal. We always plant high so soil will not wash in over the stem.

These 5 gal. plants are planted 2″ high; the mulch will be 2″ thick and will cover the exposed side roots.

The 1/2″ drip pipes are installed; emitters are installed on the drip pipe and 1/8″ distribution tubing is installed from the emitters to the plant:

Fabric was installed and then cobbles were placed on the fabric.

Mulch was delivered and spread to prevent weeds, save water and cover the drip tubing:
