Today is the last day of the New England Garden Tour and we will visit a private garden in Gloucester, the city of Salem and a Museum in Boston.

HILARIE HOLDSWORTH GARDEN

Hilarie is a landscape designer with a 3 1/2 acre garden. She and her assistant maintain the garden with some outside help every month or two.

Her vegetable garden is fenced in but the rest of her garden is open:

I went to visit The House of the Seven Gables which is the seaside mansion associated with Nathaniel Hawthorne’s classic novel “The House of the Seven Gables”:

The house was a residence for more than 240 years before it was opened to the public in 1910:

The colonial revival gardens were installed in 1909:

Nathaniel Hawthorne was born in this house in 1804. It was moved to this site in 1958:

I walked around Salem taking pictures of old homes:

ISABELLA STEWART GARDNER MUSEUM

This museum is noted for its old paintings, tapestries, furniture and stained glass windows. Here are a few pictures of the interior courtyard which is exquisite:
