Dawn Gardens is an 8 acre garden on a 12 acre piece of property in Grass Valley, CA which is composed of several different gardens with different themes and plants. It will be open on March 25, 2023 from 9-5. See website:

FRONT ENTRY GATE:
SPIRAL GARDEN:
The path curves around 3 times and ends up in the center at the Olive tree and a mosaic. If you walk the entire path to the Olive tree and back you have walked 1/2 mile.
BUCKWHEAT GARDEN:
Completely drought tolerant and native to California. There are 7 different species here.
ROSE GARDEN:



The rose garden has 75 plants and there are another 75 plants throughout Dawn Gardens on fences, arbors and in pots.
THE GRASS GARDEN:
There are about 20 different species of ornamental grasses mixed with a few summer flowering perennials.
BOG GARDEN:



The bog garden grows where the creek spreads out over the ground at the bottom of the property and is crossed by a wooden bridge. All the plants can tolerate wet soil and the main tree is the Bald Cypress which is a deciduous conifer.
HEATHER GARDEN:
The Heather garden is behind the house on a slope. The main blooming times are July/August and February/March.
LIATRIS GARDEN:

There are 1000 Liatris planted on the mound in front of the house as well as many other places in the garden.
DAYLILY GARDEN:

The day lilies line the driveway and also grow in the Iris garden.
HYDRANGEA GARDENS:
There are 2 different Hydrangea gardens – one is mostly H. macrophylla and the other is H. paniculata and H. arborescens hybrids.
